Where My Spirit Loses It’s Religion and Finds Peace

Today is Day One.

Fresh, a new day, a new journey. When people usually mention the start of something new such as a journey or “New Year, New Me”, we typically think that they are on some unrealistic makeover of their entire being. On January 1st of every year I prepare to be boggled down on social media with all of the “New” posts. And hey, I am with y’all. I get sick of them too. It’s the same story every year and by February people are back into their old habits, repeating last years shenanigans. So I decided to start on November 8th so I could beat the masses .

No really, I am on a journey as I’ve mentioned so many posts ago. I recently did a 40 Day devotional dedicated to finding my purpose. See, I am lost. I know in my heart, my soul, my spirit that there is something more. It’s like I’m missing out on the very thing that makes me who I am. I’ve lost my way. And like Jaheim, I’m trying to find my way back. So at the end of my devotional, I made a commitment to myself, my accountability partners, and God that I would dedicate my blog to this journey.

And that brings me to a big announcement: WELCOME TO MY SPIRITUAL JOURNAL. On this site you will be able to walk with me and pray with me as I figure out exactly where God wants me to be. I read that we should keep spiritual journals in order to do 3 things:

  1. Have an easily accessible reminder of what God has done for me. It’s so easy to ask for something, get it, then forget about it until next time we want something. This will help me to be mindful of my blessings and lessons learned throughout this journey.
  2. Be more mindful of God’s teaching moments. Those times where the lightbulb comes on after I’ve already told my neighbor off or after I’ve lost my way.
  3. Spend real time recollecting and reflecting on the Lord’s purpose. In order for me to be the person God has created me to be, I have to be actively looking for His guidance. And what better way than to write it down?

I will continue my other postings on the site but in general, I will be journaling this journey. So as my virtual accountability partners, I need y’all to keep me honest. I have committed to journaling everyday from this day until 12/31/19. Setting small goals and asking God to expand them into dreams & realities.
